Whiteleaf Cross

We're lucky enough to have a view of Whiteleaf Cross from our house. It's a huge chalk cross cut into the hillside above our village. Nobody seems very sure how or when it was first made, but it's been here for several hundred years and is a significant landmark around here. It's been looking a bit grubby and overgrown for a while now and Bug Mad Girl has been asking me all summer why nobody ever cleaned it up.

The view from the top of the cross - the white chalk
was looking green and overgrown.
When we got back from Ireland, she noticed straight away that the cross had been cleaned and was shiny and white.

I did a bit of digging and found out that the Chilterns Society were responsible, with help from the RAF. https://twitter.com/ChilternSociety/status/509000701394321408/photo/1

Well done! Looks great now!!
